I started with crude oil trading as an engineering student. Today I teach people in Aligarh and across India how markets really work. This is how that journey happened, and why we teach the way we do.

Where it began
My journey in the financial markets began around 2003, while I was studying engineering. My first exposure to trading was crude oil, a market that moves with global news, supply and fear. I finished my B.Tech in Petrochemical Engineering at Aligarh Muslim University in 2006, and by 2007 I was trading actively.
I started small. In those early years I was learning how the market works, mostly by doing.
The 2009 crash: a lesson I never forgot
In 2009, during the market crash, I lost around ₹2 lakh. It was all the money I had at that time.
Markets can rise slowly, but they can fall extremely fast.
That loss was painful, and it changed how I think about trading. It taught me that knowing definitions and indicators is not enough. What matters is understanding risk, protecting your capital and staying disciplined when the market turns against you. Since then, risk management has come first in everything I do and everything I teach.
Years in the corporate world
After my MBA in Finance in 2008, I built a career in the energy industry, working with Indian Oil Corporation, Shell, Castrol (BP) and Gulf Oil. Those years taught me how large organisations think about risk, planning and process, and I kept trading alongside my job.
In 2019 I left the corporate world to become a full-time professional trader. Since then, trading has been my profession, across equity, futures, options, commodities, forex and crypto, with a particular interest in options and derivatives.
Why I started The Profit Launcher
As I trained people, I kept seeing the same problem. Most market education was either textbook definitions or a single “magic” indicator. Students could define a candlestick but had no idea what to do when the market crashed, when news hit, or when it simply went sideways.
I wanted to teach people why the market does what it does, not just what to click.
So I built The Profit Launcher in Aligarh around practical learning: live market classes, small batches of 10 students, material in English and Hindi, assignments and assessments, and mentorship that continues after the course. The goal is simple: to develop independent traders and investors who can think for themselves.

Where we are going
I want Aligarh to be known not only for its history and education, but also as a place for high-quality financial-market education. We are growing our online classes for students across India and beyond, and exploring offline learning centres with partner institutes. We are also building financial literacy: how markets, risk, investing and compounding work, and how to avoid common trading mistakes.
The real measure of an institute is not awards, but the quality of education and the long-term value students take away. That is what we will keep working on.
